Hey there! My name is Spencer And I’m excited to be joining the Meta Thinkers team!
I grew up in Boonton New Jersey playing out side and playing music. I went to college in North Carolina where I studied Wilderness leadership and Experiential education at Brevard College. Through school I got an internship which turned into a summer job taking family’s backpacking, ice climbing, and pack rafting in the magnificent Wrangell st Elias national park Alaska. I’m also on the Ems and search and rescue team at Wrangell st Elias national park. This winter I’m here in Bend teaching at meta thinkers, paddling, skiing, and playing music.
Kids are the future and their enrichment is important to the world and me. I believe a teacher should adapt to the students learning styles to creatively engage ones attention, education, and enrichment. At meta thinkers My goal is to provide lessons where the students gain Skill, knowledge, and value through direct experiences, and have fun.
I have worked with all ages in different environments. In Alaska taking families into the backcountry, Summer camps taking campers backpacking, rock climbing, sea kayaking, and through high ropes courses, An art studio teaching ceramics and painting, Boys and Girls club facilitating games and initiatives at the after school program, giving music lessons, and working in wilderness therapy taking kids backpacking with llamas.
